STEAM Program Instructor- Part Time**

Location of Programs: Based at WMSI’s offices in Littleton, NH, programming primarily off-site at a Kingdom East School District (KESD) school in Vermont.

About WMSI: White Mountain Science, Inc. (WMSI - pronounced ‘whimsy’), develops and delivers highly engaging STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) programs with the goal of teaching creative problem solving to students and teachers. 

Job Description:

WMSI is seeking a caring, enthusiastic problem-solver! Our summer STEAM Program Instructor will facilitate educational STEAM programs for KESD’s summer makerspace enrichment series for middle school students (grades 5-8) over five weeks, rooted in Project Based Learning. This position involves an active role in lesson prep and driving a van to the off-site location. Additionally, the instructor will be involved in coordinating with teachers. The position also includes office hours spent organizing teaching materials, helping in the evaluation of lessons, and potentially creating documentation for future instructors.

Salary Range: $17-22/hr, commensurate with experience**

Duties Will Include:

• Facilitation of off-site STEAM-based youth programs for middle school students

• Organization & maintenance of program-related resources & equipment

• Regular communications with their on-site makerspace educator at partner district

• Preparation of lesson curriculum

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must be motivated and self-directed

• At least 1-3 years experience working with youth - essential

• Ability to support and empower students in the creative problem-solving process - essential

• Ability to set a positive environment within a room independently - essential

• Prior experience and/or Interest in science, technology, engineering, and math - a plus

• Completion of post-secondary degree or equivalent experience - preferred

• Strong communication and organization skills 

• A flexible team player who is willing to learn from mistakes and adapt

• Comfortable driving safely in variable weather conditions

• Must be able to occasionally utilize your personal vehicle for reliable transportation to/from school programs

Schedule:

• Paid training period at WMSI’s Makerspace the week of 6/22/26

• The five week series will take place from 6/29/26 to 7/30/26

  • Monday through Thursday, 12-2:30pm program time

  • Including prep. and driving time, approximately 15-25 hours per week

• Reflection and debrief day included on 7/31/26, following the program

Physical Exertion Environmental Conditions:

• Required to sit for extended periods of time, stand frequently, use fine motor skills to operate equipment, and lift and/or move 40 pounds or less.
